My days off this week...

There's really no point writing about days I work since its always the same old tune. I sleep til I go to work, I work all day and then I come home and hang out with Eli, Matt, Sara, Anne Marie and Gabz. So I'm pretty much just going to write about days I have off. This week: Matt's Birthday!!

Wednesday was Matt's birthday and I had an awesome day. I mean, I know it was his birthday and everything but I had so much fun all day. I'll never tell him that though because then he'll want to have control of every day we go to a park. ;-) The day started off with Matt, Anne Marie, Gabby and I going to 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Seriously posh and lovely. It was a character breakfast which means the characters kind of swan around the dining room and chat to the people eating breakfast.

We went pretty late though - 11am - so we got more atttention than we might have if we'd gone earlier. Tigger and Pooh were there and as always, Tigger was on top form. He was playing around and kissing us all, I love Tigger!! He stole Anne Marie's spoon too so she wasn't too happy when she got her Strawberry Soup and couldn't eat it! Mary Poppins came and we (and by we, I mean Matt) asked her to say Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious backwards and she managed it, which I was pretty impressed about. Alice and the Mad Hatter were pretty good too but Alice referred to Matt's behind as his 'butt' which was decidedly unEnglishlike so I called her on it, much to Matt's unhappiness. The food there was incredible too - a huge breakfast buffet with cooked food and specialist things too. Sooooo yummy!! Then we left there and went to meet Sara, Derek and Amy at the front of Magic Kingdom which is right next to The Grand Floridian so we got the monorail.

We went around meeting some characters for most of the day and went on some rides. We met Jack Sparrow and told him our 'I will END you' line and he thought it was a little violent. Thought that was pretty ironic that a pirate would think that? Anyways. Gabz also stole some of his loot but he didn't seem too bothered. He was really clever and funny though so that was really good. We went on Pirates, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Philharmagic, The Tiki Room, Peter Pans Flight, Buzz Lightyear and Haunted Mansion (which is amazing after the refurb).

After we were done with Magic Kingdom we went to Planet Hollywood for dinner which was lovely but they split us all up which we weren't too happy about. We managed though and had a pretty good meal. Its just a shame the place is too loud for people to really talk.

So that was Matt's birthday. Oh and 46 castmembers (including us) said Happy Birthday to him that day so he was pretty pleased.

The next day we spent with Gabby's friend who has a car so we did lots of things that are otherwise inaccessable. We went to Panara Bread for lunch which was really good. They make the bread fresh there and its great. Ironic considering I don't like the taste of American bread generally. Then we went to Celebration which is a little town created by Disney. Originally Walt Disney's plan for Epcot was that he wanted a little self contained town that was almost like a utopia. Epcot didn't really work out that way so the Imagineers created Celebration. Its a little like going into Stepford or Pleasantville but I love it. We had a wee nose around the shops there and Steph used the post office. Then we went to Old Town which is kind of like a wee Western town which some of the tackiest stores you'll ever go to in your life! Pretty cute though and has some things you'll never get anywhere else!! I got some amazing flipflops too which have been put on the card - sorry mum!! Then we went for ice cream at a place at The Crossroads which was probably the best ice cream I've ever had. Was incredible!! Afterwards we took a drive along Sand Lake Road and International Drive which helped orientate me a lot for when I get my own car.

Anyways so thats been my days off this week. Now I'm sitting at home waiting for Sara to come over so we can have pizza and watch a movie!!

Third day in a row of getting away early...

And I've not really done anything on any night I've been ERed. I started properly learning my menu and cocktails etc today at work and know all the cocktails, my timings, most of my diversity groups and the stupid wheel thing. I know some about the food on the menu but don't really know anything about the wines etc. It shouldn't take too long though, I learned all the cocktails in about half an hour at work. We just brought some new menu items in too which is good because I know most of them because they're making such a big deal about them. Newly added is the chicken and leek tart (which looked amazing and I really want to try it), the pot roast (which also looked incredible!!), the vegetable curry (which looks minging) and a frozen custard dessert (that kinda looks okay). When I speil my menu I'll probably do all new things so the managers are hearing something new!!

Okay gonna head now cuz I'm being antisocial, bye!! xx

I'm mega rubbish at keeping this updated...

Tarzan and Jane
Yeah yeah I know. Its been weeks and weeks since I wrote in this. I'm going to work harder though to keep it updated. But since I AM so rubbish I'm not even going to attempt to talk about everything thats happened since my last update, I'm just going to start from yesterday and I really will do better to keep it going.

On Tuesday Matt's friend Derek arrived from Vancounver who's going to be starting working with us. Well, technically them since I don't work with them. He's such a nice guy and really reminds me a lot of Matt, maybe just a wee bit more chilled out. So anyway the night he arrived we went to Planet Hollywood which was okay but I'd already been to Le Cellier for lunch (I hadn't intended eating two meals....) so was still pretty stuffed. The company was good though and thats all that really matters. We got a really cute photo of the three of us at the end too which I love and have framed. I'm finally learning that I look a hell of a lot better in photos when my heads tilted down. Heehee. So afterwards we all went back to the apartment and chilled out for a bit. Derek had his throw in through so they left relatively early and I had an early night if I remember correctly.

The day after I went to Downtown Disney with Gaby and bought some really cute pins for Matt and Derek. Both High School Musical ones. Heehee. We went for an Earl of Sandwich too which was really good but the gits left out my horseradish which I was NOT happy about. Oh well what ya gonna do? We went back to mine and watched the cheesiest movie ever, then I had another early night because I had a class the next morning. (Its probably the only two early nights I've had the entire time I've been here, seriously. Matt said last night that 3am is the new bedtime round here and its so true!!)

Then yesterday we had a service class which basically just teaches us the basics of being a server and how you should serve people. The afternoon was like a really basic wine class though which was excellent and has really made me want to learn a lot more about wine!! Afterwards we headed to Magic Kingdom to be one of the first people to go on the Haunted Mansion after the refurb. Its excellent. I mean I know its always been one of my favourite rides but its particularly good now. They've kind of taken a page from Paris' book and have added the 'jilted bride' theme in areas which makes it extra scary. Loved it though - its making me desperate for Spaceship Earth to be open though. After MK we came home for a bit and then went to Olive Garden. Had some amazing pasta and really loved spending time with people that I don't really get to see often like Steph and Andrew. Got to do that more often for sure.

And as for today, I was working at 2pm but got ERed (which means I got an early release and got away early) and am home now. Gaby's going to take a pic of me in my costume when she comes over in a bit though so you can all see how much of a hoot I am in my costume. ;-) Bet you all can't wait. Heehee.

Last couple of days at work

Mickey and Minnie
The last couple of days have been really easy. And by easy, I mean I've done little to no work whatsoever.

I've just started training on the chippie. Before I was on the podium which basically meant just greeting guests and taking them to their table (I'm sorry but we can't allocate you a fireworks view, its the first available table for your party size....). It was nice but it was roasting standing out all day in the sun. Once I'd learned the table plan of the restaurant though it was a peice of piss. But yesterday and today I've been in the chippie and have actually really been enjoying it. Its nice to be somewhere thats airconditioned and because you're not so much 'on show' as you are at the podium its a bit easier going. Its basically just working a till too and explaining to the customer how much they're being charged and giving them their bill so nothing too strenuous.

Last night we were supposed to go see The Simpsons Movie but ended up at Erin's just chiliing out while she made us dinner. She made spaghetti and everything from scratch, I was very impressed. We planned on watching Hot Fuzz but since EVERYONE talked through it, Matt switched it off about a half way through.

Thats about it really. I'm not going to recap the last few weeks because SO MUCH has happened. But like I said in my last entry, if you keep looking at the photos of my Bebo account you get a good idea of what I've been doing.

I'm off tomorrow but since no one else is off I don't know what I'm going to do. Probably boring stuff like laundry and maybe an exciting trip to Walmart. Or I might pop to DTD and do some shopping.

I've got four days off in a row next week too so looking forward to that. Friggen WOOOOT!! :D

First fortnight...

Sorry its taken me ages to update this, I've not stopped since I got here!!

My first couple of days I met my new flatmates and they were lovely. I knew not to get too attached though because I'd be moving to the Commons after a couple of weeks. Surprisingly though they moved me after about a week and I'm now in the commons in building 6 which is right next to the entrance. So convenient!!

The first week or so was really just spent going to meetings about housing and banking which were incredibly boring (but neccesary I suppose). Essentially we were told about what kinds of things would get us terminated and although its all pretty much common sense things, there are some things that are a little worrying. Like if you get caught with drugs in your apartment, if no one owns up you ALL get sent home. Which seriously sucks because the chances of  the person owning up are pretty damn slim. I joined Vista Union too which is a bank owned by Disney. I was going to go with Suntrust to begin with but there are just so many Vista ATMs around property and if you take money out from another bank with them you get charged. Sucks.

Then on the Saturday after I arrived we had Traditions which is basically a class that teaches you about Disney and what sets us apart from other companies and their employees. It was really fun and I got a couple of little Disney toys for answering questions and volunteering for stuff. At first I was a bit nervous because it seemed as though you have to be the right kind of person for the job and that a lot of people just don't manage. It was really interesting hearing about the company though and they show a video of kids getting their wishes and I got a bit misty eyed once or twice. ;-)

We've had days at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Sea World. They've all been really fun and there are pics of them all on my Bebo at http://www.bebo.com/emilyjwatson. The people I've met here have been great too. I was worried it was going to be difficult to make friends but everyone has been really lovely. Particularly the British and Canadian people have been a real laugh. Although now I'm starting working I get the feeling I'm not going to have as many park days as I might have liked. The days I get off I suppose I'll be relaxing. Thats why its nice to have days off together but it doesn't happen very often!!

Right I have to get the bus in about an hour so I better go get ready now. I'll do another update tonight with work things. :-D

My first few days...

Okay I'm not going to lie. Since I got here I've had nothing but time on my hands but have just been too damn lazy to update my journal.

On Sunday morning I met Dylan at the airport and amazingly enough didn't cry. When I went to the check in desk the girl said there was 'quite a few Disney employees on my flight' so I suddenly got excited. I know this sounds a bit weird but until that point it hadn't really hit me. But it did when she said that. I met up with Dylan and Nickie and we sat in departures waiting for the others they had arranged to meet with. Nick, Mark, Claire and a couple of other girls joined us and out flight was announced. We boarded and had a fairly uneventful flight. The entertainment system was a bit screwy so we tended to just sit and chat really. Nick's been before doing cult rep so I had some questions for him. I slept through for about an hour. We arrived and as the guys all headed off to mee their Disney rep I headed for the Magical Express to take me to my resort. We stopped at Saratoga Springs and Old Key West on the way and WOW they were incredible. Seriously lovely. Finally I ended up at Port Orleans Riverside. It was lovely too - really green and natural looking. My room was incredible too - I was so happy. :-) Just had a quick chance to dump my bags and Nickie called and asked me to meet her at the Treehouse Villas (where they'd be living) and we'd all meet up and go to Walmart. So we did. We got there and spent a long time looking at bedding and stuff. Eventually I went with Nick and Dylan (who were rooming together) back to Chatham and saw their apartment. It was lovely. Exactly like mine is now but their flatmates seemed to arrive quickly and it got homlier quicker. Spent some time there, had a couple of beers then headed back to my resort. Since it was around midnight Orlando time by the time I got to bed I was completely shattered.

Got up the next day and realised I didn't have my toothbrush, toothpaste or deoderant so decided to nip down to Fulton's General Store at the Riverside. Saw sooo many things I wanted but was determined to stop myself since on Saturday when I do traditions I'll be able to get a discount on everything. All I bought was what I'd needed, some sprite and a laynard for my pins. Headed back to my room and got the net set up then went for some lunch. It was a little bit weird eating in a family restaurant on my own but I grabbed a USA Today to try and look less conspicuous. Had a nice lunch then explored the resort a little. I'd love to stay here properly - its so lovely. Then later that night Dylan swung by and we had some pizza from the room service. Allearsnet.com was totally wrong about their menu though so we ended up spending arounf $30. :( Oh well, it was good.

Then this morning I got an early cab and came to Chatham Square. Was the first person in my apartment and claimed the best bed in the biggest room. :D Took another trip to Walmart and got my own bedding and stuff. I'd been determined not to get it the first night because it would just be more to lug to Chatham. Spent some time setting up my room and unpacking and Dylan called around with Nick and Joost. Went back to theirs for a bit then went with them to the pool. Dipt my feet for a bit and just totally reveled in the fact that we were finally here. Its all totally worth it. Came back to my apartment to see if anyone had moved in and someone had but she wasn't around. Back to Dylans then came back after an hour or so to check if anyone else had arrived and met my first flatmate, a Mexican girl named Gabby. She seemed lovely but didn't really get a chance to chat to her. Her throw in is tonight but mine isn't til tomorrow. So anyway headed back to Dylan's where their 'party' was in full swing. Had a couple of beers and Dylan and another girl went to meet their neighbours. He came crashing in around 10 mins later screeching that he'd found Mary Poppins. He was dragging this poor mortifed looking girl behind him who, as it turned out, plays Mary Poppins at MK. She seemed lovely and Dylan insisted on getting his photo taken with her and getting her autograph. She was being treated like a real celebrity but seemed to embrace it!! Heehee. Then they all decided to go to DTD for some partying which I'd normally be totally up for but have my meet and greet in the morning so thought it best not to. Came back to the apartment expecting to see more flatmates but still no one. So I'm in the apartment on my own now. Am actually quite tempted to go to bed but don't want someone turning up late and unpacking in my room while I'm sleeping. Ho hum. I'll give it another hour and then head to bed.

Sorry for the massive long post. If anyone actually reads this, bravo!! :D

My last entry in Scotland...

Michael - Fairy Dust
Well the day has finally come. We're trekking down to Manchester in a few hours, staying overnight then I fly out to Orlando tomorrow morning (assuming I can fit in the seat - its been a bad couple of weeks diet wise...).

I had my leaving party last night and it was incredible. No one (except Aly but thats agiven) got really drunk and we all just had a really nice time. It wasn't a huge blow out and was just the people I genuinely cared about that were there. Many tears were shed at the end of the night. Lian and Amy have it in their heads that I'm never coming back. I've told them I have to but they don't believe me. My only real regret about the night was that Frazer was only there for a teensy part of the night at the end - we did finish up pretty early though because everyone had been up since very early and were really tired. I should have pics of the night on my bebo as soon as I can, I got some really lovely photos. I got a great photo album from Lian and an address book from Amy which I'm taking with me, I was so glad for the photo album cuz I didn't get a chance to print out any of my pics so they were all on the laptop.

So in around 24 hours I'll be leaving Manchester airport as long as there are no delays - and in 48 hours I'll be there. I don't even really know how to feel right now. The whole process has been really stressful that I'm almost just relieved to be going and that everything has worked out okay. If you'd told me 6 months ago I'd be going to work in Disney and be part of the magic I'd have laughed but now its actually going to happen.

Yay.

OMG I'm actually going to Disney...

Bambi OMG
This might sound so silly but its not sunk in til just now that in a week Im going to be in The Happiest Place on Earth! Dylan and I were just talking about how soon it is and that we're going to go to Walmart when we arrive and buy loadsa rubbish when I got this email from Yummy. :D

Greetings!

Wow!  Finally………the time has almost come for you to get on the plane to Orlando. I bet you thought it would never happen but guess what, your program is officially about to start…. Walt Disney World here we come!

To get you more excited about this opportunity I wanted to tell you a few cool facts about America!

In America nearly everything has a drive through! Banks, restaurants, pharmacies, and even some convenient stores have a place where you can order, pick up, and pay for everything with out leaving the car!

No city in Florida is more than 75 miles from either the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean

Walt Disney World is twice the size of Manhattan Island

Most places in America deliver!  You will be able to order take out with out leaving your apartment.

Disney Land in California would fit into Disney’s Magic Kingdom car park in Walt Disney World.

There are more people that go to the Norwegian part of EPCOT, than there are people in Norway.

So we hope you have a Great Time in America and keep in mind: If you take pictures traveling around America or going on excursions, feel free to share them with us.  We love sharing stories and pictures! Also, if at any time you get a new email address, please let us know so we are able to keep informing you of all the exciting opportunities!

The whole Yummy Jobs team would like to wish you the most fantastic year at Disney.  Remember to wear lots of suntan lotion and sprinkle that Pixie dust!

I've also added some piccies of the hotel I'm going to be staying in again (can you believe this is one of the things I'm most excited about for the whole trip? I'm so sad. :D)

And a BIG thank you to Andre Willey on the Dibb for letting me borrow his pictures and the advice about POR. :)

I want to be in Disney damnit!

I must stop reading other people's blogs about being there because its just making me completely jealous. I don't want to be sitting in back shifts at work, ordering taxis and doing patrols. I want to be on Tower of Terror or giggling manically as I ride around on a boat listening to Its a Small World. Bah.

The good news I have found out though is that through a complete fluke of chance, there is going to be two other Disney people going to the Visa interview at the same time as I am, Nickie and Becky. Not only are they both flying out on the same date as me, but they're both on the Manchester flight with me too. Take about weird coincidences. My appointment is at 12.30 and theirs are at 1pm and 1.30.

So I've booked my train down (£30) and my flight back up (£65) so its not going to cost a complete fortune. The only thing I'm stressing about now is whether there will be somewhere at Kings Cross for me to leave my mobile while I'm down there because I'm definately not travelling all the way to London without a phone or iPod. I'm sure there will be somewhere though. I mean, its Kings Cross, there has to be eh?

I'm also going tomorrow to get my visa photos done tomorrow. Tenner for two (I assume its two anyway) isn't too bad. Better get my pretty face on for tomorrow!!

Since its been a while since I updated...

Lilo and Stitch - Spaceship
Its been absolutely ages since I posted anything but its only because nothing has really happened since I got my welcome pack through the door! Obviously all the forms have been signed and sent away. I've booked my flight now too and am going with Virgin on the 15th of July. Since I don't start til the 17th I'm going to stay in the lovely Port Orleans Riverside Resort:

Purty, huh? :D Since its onsite its a little more than I was really looking to spend for just two nights but I thought I'd treat myself since its the first time I'll have stayed in a Disney hotel (The Sante Fe at DLP just doesn't count!) and since theres a good chance I'll be on my own for a lot of the first day, I thought it would be nice to have somewhere attractive to chill out.

Other Disney related news is that I'm going to Disneyland Paris on Tuesday. Whoo!! Anne Marie and I are spending 3 days in Paris, 2 of them being with the Mouse. I didn't really get excited about it til about a week ago because I had exams and things to think about but now I'm starting to get really excited about the whole thing. I've only ever been to DLP once before and was with the crabbiest, least Disneylike friend you could think of so we only spent a half a day before he got bored and we left. So it'll be nice to go with a proper Disneygeek like me. :D I'll update when I come back with all my piccys and stuff. :D

My Disney pack arrived!!

And its so adorable!! I've seen pics of them from other peoples blogs before but it was so nice to finally get one. I got a little misty eyed when I opened it and it said things like congratulations and 'why you've been chosen' etc etc. I'm sad, I know. ;-)

BTW, apologies for the crappy quality of the pic. It was taken with my phone.

Because you're all desperate to see right??

This is The Commons where I'll be living. Obviously these are photos of the club house etc and probably not of the actual apartments.

And this is the UK Pavillion in Epcot. This is where I shall be spending 14 hour days busting my ass and getting sunburned and sick of tourists. :D

Hmph well know I know...

Well it seems as though everyone's been told now whether they're going, staying or have been waitlisted. Myself, Hayley and Laura are definately going. So is Lynn who was actually in my interview with me. Everyone else was waitlisted - Keith, Jamie, Stuart and Adam. A couple of guys got outright rejected too which I thought was pretty harsh. It couldn't have hurt just to 'waitlist' them...

I've been looking at flights and stuff and it seems that the heat isn't going to be the only drawback of going in July - the flight prices are just daylight robbery. Seriously its going to cost me somewhere in the region of £600 to just get over there which is just unreal. The visa states that it has to be a scheduled flight too so I can't even get a cheapy flight with Airtours or something. The cheapest I can find is going with Delta I think and there's a stopover in Atlanta. Not bad I suppose since direct flights are practically unheard of in the summer apparantly.

I should be getting my Disney pack through the mail soon too which is pretty cool. I spoke to Kristen at Yummy yesterday and she said they were going to speed things up for me a little since I'm going sooner than most people do for the yearlong CRP. When she said that it made me even more stressed than I had been LOL.

And so it begins...

Mickey and Minnie
Its certainly felt like a loooooooooong day. I got the Disney job! :D

It all started this afternoon as I was cleaning my room. One of the girls I'd met down in London was on the boards and saw that someone had been told they'd got a job. As soon as that happened, everyone flocked onto WDWIP.com to hear what had happened. Two hours went by and I didn't hear anything. A couple of folk speculated it could have been a one off, but I felt in my gut that by the end of the day I'd know whether I was going or not. I tried my best to put it out my mind and got ready for work, worried that I'd hear when I was at work and that it would be bad news. Literally as I was stepping out the door my phone went and it was a London number. I knew it was them.

As soon as I heard her tone I knew the news was good. She asked how I was and I said, 'I'm either about to feel really really happy or really really sad.' 'Really really happy' she said. I could hear her smiling down the phone (I thought people who told us to do that for the phone interview were only joking LOL). The next few minutes were a blur. My hands started shaking and I had a minor panic attack. LOL. She said I'd be working in food and beverege from July 17th 2007 to July 15th 2008. She also said I would get a proper call on either Thursday or Friday to tell me details and confirm everything. My Disney adventure was officially starting.

No one except me had heard. Well no one on the boards anyway. And none of the girls I'd met in London (Anne Marie, Laura or Hayley). knew either. As of me writing this, they still don't. Its driving me nuts. I know I'll be there when Nina and Dylan (grad program people) are there but i'll be gutted if Anne Marie doesn't get in. I'm pretty sure she will though. So at this point there is a lot of speculation as to why some people have heard and others haven't. Some think its that they're doing it reverse alphabetical and others think its in interview time order.

Who knows eh? All evening I've been MSNing and texting people who still don't know. I can't imagine how hard it must be not to know. Maybe they just know how impatient I am and knew I'd explode if I didn't hear!

Lynn (the girl who was actually in my interview with me) is going too but not til November. But she's really lovely and I'm sure we'll get on really well if we end up hanging around together.

I'm not really sure how to feel. I mean I'm SO happy and there are so many excellent things I'm sure ive not even thought about but I'm really trying not to talk about 'what we're going to do in florida' til some other folk find out. Rubbing their nose in it would just be shit. But its killing me to hold it in. LOL.

I'll post again when I know who's all going. :-D

Update on everything Disney...

Okay well I had my interview. Okay it was four or five days ago now but everything's kind of being a bit nonstop so haven't had a chance to write about it. People keep asking me about though and I'm starting to get a bit sick talking about it. But I should probably keep something here for posterity in case I either get it or don't. Plus Anne Marie is making me look bad by keeping her blog in order. xD

I went out for dinner the night before the interviews with some really nice people id met from WDWIP.com. Anne Marie who I mentioned before was really nice, we got on like a house on fire. Laura, who was really really lovely . And Rose, who came out for the meal but didn't go to the interviews because she got accepted into London School of Economics. They were all lovely and we had an amazing dinner. Ate WAY too much and had an amazing brownie dessert thing. Was excellent though. :D

The next morning was a total blur. Got up insanely early after barely sleeping and it took me an hour and a half to get ready. Thats officially the longest its taken me to get ready EVER. :D Got all my documents together and met the girls who were staying at the hotel, downstairs for breakfast. Was VERY careful not to have anything with sauce or drippiness in case I ruined my new blouse. But then we only had about 4 bites before the other girls said they were too nervous to eat (I'm NEVER too nervous to eat) and we left to meet Anne Marie who was at reception. A couple of guys who are also on the WDWIP boards met us at reception too and we were all good to go. We went round to the disney offices which were literally minutes away. The offices were incredible, huge Mickey statues and posters for the new movies all over the walls. It was incredible. I wish we could have taken pictures but it was against the rules. :-( Anyway we had our presentation, again amazing. If I didn't want to do it before that, I certainly do now. The girl on the video presentation (which can be seen here if you're so inclined: http://wdwcollegeinternationalepresentations.com/ - its slightly different from ours but the general idea is the same), Valarie was certainly...enthusiastic. ;-) Anyhoo so we watched that and then all had our interviews. Since I'd come a pretty long way mine was really early. Virtually right away. Which I think ultimately that was the best thing I could have had since it meant I didn't have time to fret inbetween. So I went straight upstairs and waited. The interviews were done in pairs and I was with this really lovely girl from Aberdeen.  I was asked things like what I'd want my roommate to know about me, what experiences i've had at disney, what challenges my job poses, what i'd tell someone about edinburgh and how I could use my Disney experience in my future career. There were other questions too but those were the ones that stuck out.

Anyway, after I came out (and my feet were KILLING me) I waddled over to the chairs where the people I met on the board were sitting. They all kinda got excited when they saw me and were asking me a million questions. The problem was though that I had completely blanked. My mind went to mush and I was just....zombified. I did try and give an indication of how I thought it had gone but its so difficult. I genuinely have no idea, it could go either way. But that was my interview day. Then Anne Marie and I went to get coffee and have a natter since her interview wasn't til much later on. I had to end up buying flipflops because my feet were so sore!!

After Anne Marie went to her interview I moped off to Heathrow to see if I could get an earlier flight. Since I didn't know til the morning of the day what time my interview would be, I made my flight in the evening just to be sure. When I spoke to the girl at the BA desk they wanted £200 to upgrade my ticket to let me go earlier. Needless to say I declined and waited for 4 hours. Weirdly enough though the girl who'd been in my interview with me was in the queue waiting too so we waited together since her flight was at 7pm too. So it wasn't too bad having someone to wait with.

So yeah, that was my exciting day. I was a little teary eyed when I saw my dad at the other end because I really felt the interview had gone badly. In hindsight I think it must have just been hormones because I really hadn't thought it had gone that badly. It wasn't excellent but it wasn't a train wreck. I really wouldn't be surprised with either decision... But only time will tell eh? We were told to assume 2-3 weeks, I'll assume 3 though and if its earlier then thats just a bonus. But I'm looking into other things in case. I don't wanna be stranded with nothing to do...

Bambi OMG
Okay so with my Disney interview a week away I've got into a very VERY bad habit. I've been reading people's blogs who have gone over for the college program or the cult rep. Sounds all happy jolly doesn't it. WRONG! Now I really really want to go. More than I did before. I just really wish the interview was all over and done with so I didn't have to think about it.

Oh and I almost cried when I read this on one of the girls pages.

Massive amounts of crying right now!!

Just got an email from Yummy Jobs in the UK to say that they're inviting me for an interview with the Disney people on the 21st of March! :D I'm so excited! Means I have to go down to London which will cost a wee bit but I'll manage. If it means getting a job with them it doesn't matter either way! :D

Disney Phone Interview

Ratatouille

Had my Disney phone interview today. Its difficult to tell how these things have gone isn't it? At first I was quite happy with my answers (considering how mind numbingly petrified and nervous I was) but as soon as I went onto the forums about it and talked with people who had theirs today, their answers seemed to be a lot better than mine. :( I'm worried mine was a little dull. Oh well its all over now, just have to wait to see if I made it to the face to face interviews.

I was asked the following questions, what would you have said? ;)

  • What would you tell someone who asked about your culture?
  • How do you think you'll manage sharing a bedroom with someone?
  • Why should Disney hire you?
  • Why do you want to work for Disney?
  • If a customer sent their food back what would you do?
  • How would you deal with living with people from other cultures?
It was ok and I had prepared but now I'm just overanalysing it. Plus its VERY competative so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. :)

I'm applying to go work in Disney in Florida in the cultural representative program. Its seriously very competative and seems like such a long drawn out process. I sent in my CV about 2 weeks ago and got an email yesterday asking me to give them a time when I can have a phone interview. Its massively exciting but also completely frightening. Normally I don't let myself get that excited about stuff so that if I don't make it I'm not that let down. But this is something I've wanted to do since the first time I went to Florida, so I'll be really very gutted if I don't get it. Apparantly in the phone interview they ask things like 'what's interesting about your country' and 'what would you tell a guest who was getting bored waiting for their table'? Pretty straightforward things but I've never had a phone interview before and don't know how I'll come across. Out of the 90ish that apply, they only take about 15. So there will probably be a pretty high calibre of people there. I just have to remember to smile and be positive since they're really looking for more of an attitude fit than a skill fit...
